As more CBD (cannabidiol) products come out everyday, it can sometimes be confusing navigating the market. To help make things more clear, we wanted to break down some of the different forms of CBD extracts and oils so you can figure out what works best for you. If you are interested in reading about some of the research being done on cannabinoids extracts and oils, contact us, or read up on the basics of cannabis!
Distillate (“Broad Spectrum Oil”)
Distillate, sometimes referred to as “Broad Spectrum Oil,” starts as a full spectrum oil, but then goes through a refinement process to reduce or remove cannabinoids, such as THC.
CBD isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form. It comes in the form of a powder; and while some products out there in the market may include CBD isolate with terpenes, our CBD isolate contains no other active compounds, just CBD.
To further help you understand the different forms of CBD we like to compare these extracts to something we all know pretty well...milk.
Raw milk is what comes right from the cow or goat and has not been pasteurized or changed in any way, it is in it’s completely natural form. Pasteurizing is the next step that strips the milk of some it’s bacteria and enzymes. Even further, the milk can go through homogenization which breaks down molecules to prevent separation. Fats can be removed from the milk, and it can even be taken down to the level of powdered milk, where it is so refined that it can sit on your shelf rather than be refrigerated.
We hope this helps to keep the conversation around CBD open and flowing as this market continues to expand and grow! Research is important!
