Embracing Change and Choosing Growth

Embracing Change and Choosing Growth

25th May 2020

As we navigate this uncertain time, our core values keep us grounded while we shift into new realities. Moving through this change, lends us time to focus on what matters most and it’s the health of our family, our farm, the environment, and our community as a whole. But we've found from living life on the farm, sometimes change is not an easy row to sow.

Change is Inevitable, Growth is Optional

Moving through change reveals lessons and gifts of growth. Over the past few years, we've experienced not only growth but loss too. These lessons guided us back to a more mindful approach when it comes to business and life on the farm.

We adapted and grew from change, all the while continuing to rely on our core values.

It's clear that compromising our values and quality was never a change we'd be willing to make. We hold the highest authentic standards in our everyday lives and the integrity of these morals transfer directly into the products that we make for you.

Our core values drive us to excel in ways far beyond our wildest dreams!

As we think about our vast individual realities before COVID19, our hope is that we realize we all have an opportunity to dissect our lifestyles and make changes to create a more sustainable life. If we take this time to make critical changes in our everyday lives, we will advance to an understanding and belief of the living system theory. Not only will we understand that everything living is connected, we will simultaneously gain control of our personal health and wellbeing as stewards of our bodies and Mother Earth.

Seed Change

In the agricultural community, we refer to Seed Change, as a change of view or perception of a field of knowledge or practice, derived from the practice of crop rotation.

Since change is in the air, we decided it was time to incorporate new seeds and new discussions concerning additional cannabinoids available in the hemp plant. Besides our high Cannabidiol, (CBD) varieties, this year we decided to grow high Cannabigerol, (CBG) cultivars on the farm as well.

While we will always appreciate the balance and anti-inflammatory properties of CBD, we find ourselves wanting to create additional small batch products highlighting the many other restorative phyto-cannabinoids this amazing plant has to offer.

Cannabinoids, Homeostasis and You

  • Phyto-cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in the Cannabis Sativa plant.
  • Endo-cannabinoids are chemical compounds produced by mammals.

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CECD) is a theory for the systems and conditions that develop when the eCS is depleted and not enough cannabinoids are naturally produced by the body.

In the early 1990’s, Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol, (THC) was the first cannabinoid isolated by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam and his team at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. After the structure was isolated, our Endocannabinoid System, (eCS) was discovered. The eCS is an extensive signaling and receiving system within our body. The eCS purpose is to create and maintain balance within the body, also known as homeostasis. Just like CBD, CBG also helps in regulating our eCS, restoring balance and lowering the psychoactive effects of THC.

The Mother of All Cannabinoids

Cannabigerol, (CBG) is referred to as “the mother of all cannabinoids” since all cannabinoids actually begin as CBGA (the acidic precursor or the pre-activated form of CBG). As the plant matures, it turns CBGa into CBDa, also into THCa, and a list of over 100 other Phyto-cannabinoids present in the Cannabis sativa plant.

CBG has an abundance of potential health benefits. These benefits come not only from the cannabinoids, but the terpenes, flavonoids and other phytonutrients as well.

Now that we know that CBG can help regulate our eCS, we need to understand how to ingest and apply it. CBG tincture, which is taken sublingually (under the tongue), absorbs very quickly into our body. A topical applied directly to an area, absorbs into the skin and affects the area where it is applied. For certain conditions, such as pain relief, both a tincture and a topical is most effective at supporting our eCS and relaxing muscles and organs.

Focus On Quality

For the most bio-availability, choose tinctures and topicals that are made with whole-plant, full-spectrum, organically grown hemp flower extract. It’s also really important to know the extraction and processing methods the plant has gone through. When choosing a quality hemp extract, look for supercritical CO2 extract which utilizes the cleanest methods of extraction with the least degradation to the supporting cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. In addition, hand processed, temperature controlled drying facilities and freezers are important components to any quality hemp extract brand you are considering.

Given our current global state of change, staying grounded in core beliefs, helps us focus our energy on the important tasks at hand, growing and creating quality hemp extract products for our health minded community.
